The history of Bodega Contador begins in 1995, when the oenologist and winemaker Benjamín Romeo acquires a centennial cave under the castle of San Vicente de la Sonsierra (La Rioja). In 1996, he made the first harvest of his wine "La Cueva del Contador" and began to buy vineyards for his winemaking project.
The key to the work at Bodega Contador is the meticulous attention to a wealth of details at all stages of the production process: from the care of the vineyard flooring to the design of the labels. Benjamin Romeo personally supervises all these tasks.
The Najerilla Valley, in the Rioja Alta wine-growing area, is a landscape dominated by vineyards. Here you will find the Bodegas Fin de Siglo, which has been part of the Peralada Group since the beginning of 2014.
In Arenzana de Abajo, the care of the area's viticulturists has managed to keep vines over 100 years old in production, vines fully adapted to the soil conditions and climate of the area.
Bodegas Fin de Siglo was set up in 1999 on the initiative of a small group of families of winegrowers from this municipality, who have been making wine for several generations. The fundamental objective is to strengthen the existing wealth in the old vines of this region, getting the best out of some vines that produce high quality bunches, with small and separated grapes, very concentrated, which give more structure, body and aroma to the wine made with them.
Nowadays, Fin de Siglo is part of the group of wineries Castillo Perelada.
