Through Cía. from Vinos del Atlántico, we receive this Portuguese wine from the D.O.C. Dao. Made by Álvaro Castro from Quinta da Pellada, one of the legendary producers of this inland region of Portugal. The wine is a blend of typical grapes from the area, and vines planted since 1988 in clay, granite and sand soils at about 550 meters of altitude. Fermentation in stainless steel. and aged for 15-18 months in 2-3-use French barrels. The result is a wine that represents the area's wines very well, fresh, with length, tasty and easy to drink. Dâo is an area surrounded by different mountain ranges, so although it is inland, and we could think of it as a hot area, the different mountain ranges that surround it make it a wooded area, with good rainfall and with a tendency to be a cooler than hot. A wine with a price-enjoyment ratio is extraordinary.
