ELABORATION
Vintage Port remains in wood for about 20 months and is then transferred to the bottle where it will continue to age. Late Bottled Vintage, as its name suggests, is bottled later, remaining in wood for four to six years. During this relatively long wood aging period, the LBV matures and composes. Once bottled, it is ready to drink. It does not need to be decanted or drunk immediately, as once the bottle has been opened, it remains fresh for several weeks.
