Tasting notes:
- Wine of very intense cherry color.
- Aroma of good intensity, with predominance of ripe black fruit.
- In mouth it shows a perfect structure and concentration, correct acidity, expressivity and fruit power, emphasizes its impeccable maturity, accompanied by a sumptuousness of lively tannins and generous red fruit.
Elaboration and Ageing:Payment wine from the Paraje de Cueva Baja of just 3 hectares of old vines planted on very loose soil of clay and sand. Mauro Terreus is produced by Bodegas Mauro with Tempranillo grapes located in the town of Tudela del Duero (Valladolid).
The Aging is 24 months in French oak barrels.
Curiosities:Bodegas Mauro is the first family winery of Mariano García in Castilla y León (since Maurodos is included in the Toro denomination). It is named after his father, Mauro García.
Bodegas Mauro was founded in 1980, two years before the Ribera del Duero D.O. was constituted, but Bodegas Mauro was excluded from the Denomination of Origin for reasons strictly of geographical delimitation at the time of its constitution, because the historical arguments of the Tudela de Duero vineyards were not considered sufficient.
The vineyards of Bodegas Mauro date back to the time of the Austrians (1562, Philip II) and were exempted from payment of taxes for their excellent quality. On the other hand, Mauro has always maintained strict quality standards and, freed from the rigidity of the D.O., has managed to take advantage of this by producing wines with great potential. They own 35 hectares of vineyards in the municipalities of Tudela de Duero and Santibáñez de Valcorba.
