CATA's notes:
Preparation and Aging:
Wine made from grapes 90% Tempranillo and 10% Garnacha, Mazuela and Graciano from the Rioja Alavesa area, harvested manually and made in Viña Real. The destemmed grapes are placed in stainless steel tanks where they undergo cold premaceration before alcoholic fermentation with temperature control to maintain the typical aromas of their Tempranillo variety. The wine, after malolactic fermentation, goes to French and American oak barrels where it remains for 14 months .
Curiosities :
The Viña Real de Laguardia winery, designed by the French architect Philippe Maziéres, consists of three buildings, the main one of which is built in Red Cedar and is shaped like a tub. Natural light, the caves excavated to store the wine and cutting-edge technology - with the use of gravity, installation of the first vertical hopper in Spain - define this monumental work.
The vineyards located in the Sierra de Cantabria slope down towards the Ebro basin. The mountains protect this Rioja Alavesa where the Atlantic climate is combined with clay and calcareous soils.
