Pago de los Capellanes Doroteo is a ripe and fresh red wine that stands out for its elegance and power. It is made from Tempranillo grapes from very old vines in the Majuelo Doroteo plot, with very poor, gravelly, clay-loam soils. Harvesting is carried out by hand, selecting the excellent clusters and taking care of the perfect moment of ripening of the fruit. This is a special wine, as it commemorates the 25th anniversary of the winery.
TASTING NOTES:
Sight: Intense and bright cherry red colour, with garnet reflections.
Nose: Complex and expressive aromas with dominating notes of ripe red and black fruit combined with other nuances that remind us of wild flowers, liquorice and noble woods from long stays in oak barrels.
Palate: In the mouth it has a powerful entrance and a silky passage full of pleasant and ripe tannins.
APPELLATION OF ORIGIN: Ribera del Duero.
WINEMAKING: Made with the Tempranillo variety.
AGEING: Aged for 36 months in French oak barrels.
CURIOSITIES: In the 14th century, the present-day village of Pedrosa de Duero housed a parish church. Here the chaplains offered masses and prayers in exchange for small plots of land. Over time, the chaplaincy came to collect an extensive payment. In 1855, with the arrival of the disentailment of Mendizábal, the properties of the church and the clergy returned to the town council. The inhabitants of Pedrosa continued to call the estate "el de los capellanes" (the one of the chaplains).
The preservation of eight centenary walnut trees located in the vineyards was the starting point that determined the location of Pago de Los Capellanes.
The entire Pago de Los Capellanes winery is integrated into the natural landscape that surrounds it through a continuous, flowing blanket of ivy, enriched by the majesty of the centenary walnut trees.
