The winery, with a surface area of 700m2, is a medieval construction in oak and stone from the area. Located in the village of A Míllara, in the heart of the Ribeira Sacra, it is a privileged enclave in the Rio Miño canyons. It is semi-underground, as a continuation of the natural slope of the land where it is located, which guarantees a constant temperature, naturally throughout the year.

Being perfectly integrated with the vineyards, it minimizes deterioration in the transport of the grape, and has the latest advances and machinery.

Over the years, a comprehensive renovation has been carried out with respect to its original architecture.

At Finca Míllara we elaborate our own grapes and work the land as our ancestors did, in a traditional way, with ploughing, without herbicides, obtaining an excellent quality, kilo and a half per vine.

The terrain is made of soft rusty slate with 50% slope, with little rainfall, which forces the roots of the vines to deepen and thus extract all the potential of the "terroir". With this work methodology, over the course of ten years we have managed to achieve a surface area of 210,000 m2 of quality vineyards in one of the best areas of DO production. Ribeira Sacra.

The harvest

The harvest is one of the most important stages of any winery, all the effort, care and attention that is given to the vines results in the best grapes.

At Finca Míllara we harvest by plots of land depending on the alcoholic and phenolic ripening of the grapes from the different vineyards that make up the estate. Without haste but without pause they are harvested at the exact point of ripeness and acidity to obtain the highest quality. The grapes are picked by hand in 12 kg boxes and immediately taken to the winery for cooling.

He is a viticulturist and oenologist resident in our winery and alma mater of most of our wines. Great defender of the organoleptic qualities that define the Mencía grape varieties found in the wines of the Ribeira Sacra DO.

Raúl Pérez is the viticulturist, consultant, oenologist and creator of the country's most mediatic wines, his creations embody his personality: different wines, autochthonous varieties, mature grapes that express and have their own personality, differentiating themselves from the rest and always in very limited quantities of production.
